All around Ladenburg there are small patches of beautifully sewn wild flowers. In this mix of plantings are the most amazing poppies. They are on all sizes and colors.
I thought I would share a few favorites with you.

The sun came out today after MANY days of rain and Ladenburg once again came to life. This weekend is the fishing clubs festival, they have a nice tent along the Neckar river where later today and through Monday they will be having a "fish-fry". Should be a nice time if this beautiful weather holds.

Also today the Drachenboot, similar to a crew boat, but with a Viking twist, were out practicing for the up coming race. From what I saw last year, it seems other villages compete here in Ladenburg against our "home" team. Then later in the day they have a nice festival on our little beach. You can hear the beat of the drums counting the pace for weeks before the event as they practice.

A power shift...

A rather interesting thing has happened in our home since the death of two of our three cats. The final cat, Curley...known by many as "Surely" has been acting rather strangely. He has gone from being a "ghost cat", one that hides and peeks from behind furniture and lingers in dark corners...only to hiss when acknowledged, to being..well...Mr. Personality. He is bright and happy and UBER friendly.

You ask why or how could such a change happen? We have several theories. My husbands favorite is that perhaps Curley now thinks he is next to be "taken care of" and so he has decided to step it up and be more friendly. I just think...he is enjoying his ONLY cat status.

His latest achievement is to acquire Clover's bed. Of course after reading copious books before bringing Clover into our cat filled home and all of them saying we need to establish early the hierarchy in our home. HUMAN, CAT...furniture...then dog. (hierarchy as seen by cats...CAT, HUMAN, FURNITURE then dog).

So, now poor Clover, all forty some odd pounds of him has been relegated to a large cat bed...at least it isn't a small one, while Curley sleeps SMACK dab right in the middle of a HUGE, sunny and soft dog bed.

That poor dog. Curley has never been happier...

What an amazing weekend we had in Ladenburg-land. Definitely not because it was blue skies and sunny, but it seemed that each day was chock full of interesting events.

We were able to attend one such event yet again at our wonderful garden center here called Huben. It seemed like everyone was there...I am thinking in the thousands...and that may be a low estimate.

Many people rode their bikes to get to Huben, others walked like we did, still others rode in a nostalgic way...by carriage. The roads in, out and around Ladenburg were absolutely full of people going to Huben.

Inside there were vendors of all kinds...for food, wine and flowers. There were sculptors, garden designers, metal workers and did I say wine and food? There certainly was something for everyone.
