If you are in Germany in the Fall you tend to see people with bags, hanging about under trees. Sometimes alone, sometimes in pairs and most times...with their dogs. This I have discovered is the German sport of foraging.
It is uncommon in the US to see people milling about picking up nuts in the forest or fallen fruit from trees along the roadside. I don't know why that is...do we think the tree must belong to someone? I have no idea, but here at this time of year, nothing goes to waste.
I had hoped to provide you with a photo, but on this one subject I think you need to go out and see it for yourself. Instead I shall just load some beautiful shots of the forest at what I believe is it's best.
