Bath day for baby...

Today was your typical rainy Winter day here in Ladenburg so after I finished the putting away of the ornaments...I decided our boy Clover had finished his completion of his "personal scent"..and it was the dreaded...BATH DAY.

I am not honestly sure if Clover hates bath day. He tends to make a B-line to any amount of water when in the wild, (outside). He is like a 4 year old in rubber boots who can not pass up stomping in puddles after a rain storm. Luckily most things just brush out of his hair...but periodically a cleansing is needed.

You have to plan your mission out in detail before attempting to perform this task and repeating the word..."TREAT" multiple times has been known to aid in your completion of the task. He is smart though...he knows he has to be brushed before being washed so for him, to be successful in avoiding a bath you have to make sure there is a lot of distance between where you are brushed...and the dreaded...BATHROOM. You are pretty much a gonner if you get brushed in Dad's office...next to the bathroom. At that point...just give up and become a boneless rubber dog doll.

Once in the tub he is pretty docile, but the key is to get his 40lbs over the sunk in acrylic tub side and onto the rubber sticky matts with out him scratching the tub side OR tweaking your back. Not an easy task. Greasing a pig HAS to be easier...imagine this task in reverse once he is wet.

So, after everything is done and he has shaked shaked shaked all over the bathroom and you towel him and the walls and floors...he has to get OUT TO THE GARDEN FAST!!! Clover wet equal...naked baby. I know I do not have children, but I have given a bath to one or two in my life...this dog reacts the exact way. I have heard this behavior described by other dog owned people.

When the crazy run around the yard and the wee bit of watering is done he MUST be wrapped in a towel and an old bathrobe wrapped snugly around that. Today, in my racing around to get this and that finished...I tossed the towel and robe over him and left. About 20 minutes later I realized he was not following me and was actually still...un naturally still. When I went in to check on him....this is what I found.
