What a glorious weather day today! Just when I had given up hope that we would have snow here in Ladenburg this year....IT SNOWS! Last week I was out photographing all the blooming fruit trees and was getting ready to blog about what a crazy weather year we were having....and then this. Does make me concerned seriously for all the confused plants that believed we were having an early Spring, BUT...I LOVE SNOW...and my dog LOVES SNOW....so there you have it...this will be a "snow-loving dogblog". :)
Me and my canine sidekick layered up this morning with our Winter gear...not very attractive but very utilitarian....and headed out early to attempt to be the first people to make tracks. Sadly the Germans beat us to it. They are very outdoorsy people so they would be out even if there wasn't any snow...but with snow...EVERYONE comes to join in.
We took a path that led along the Neckar river, many people had a similar idea and we out playing snow games with their dogs. I am working on teaching Clover to come to a whistle therefore getting him off the leash. It is believed that it is unhealthy for dogs to always be on the leash....he is really doing well and normally will return quickly when the whistle is blown....UNLESS....like today, there is a field of Canadian Geese. Well, I think the photos will explain how that went. Dogs will be dogs. I figured no matter how fast Clover is...he is not going to catch those birds.
All the kids were out this morning, looking for that perfect patch of snow to ride their sleds down...unfortunately, Ladenburg is mostly flat, with a few man-made bumps rather than hills, but that is fine apparently, to the child's mind it is Everest. There was enough snow to make a few snowmen which is really the best part of having snow...other than a snow day from school that is.
Well, I believe all of Clover's toe snowballs have melted, at least the ones he has not eaten and I am warming up with a cup of hot coffee...mmmmm. Think it will take some time today to process all the photos from this mornings walk...perhaps I can muster up a few that are not dog related to create a blog about something other than Clover...Perhaps...
