As a special treat and training combo, one of the ladies in our club brought her horse to teach the rest of the pack how not to fear a horse and rider...and most importantly...how to respect them.
You can see how we are told to distract the dog with a treat if our dogs act afraid or overly interested in the horse. All the dogs performed wonderfully. I think it helps also to have a horse who is use to having a dog run along side.
In one photo you can see little Nero stuck in some logs...the dogs like to do agility training on the logs and Nero fell between logs. That too was a great lesson in...DON"T PANIC...move slowly and pull the dog up and out. Nero never even had a chance to panic.
Everyone brought a small picnic and after the walk in the beautifully lit (though, slightly dusty due to no rain)...woods. We were able to find a nice field to lay down for a spell and also for the dogs to let loose. Sadly, my little Clover, being a big chicken and a fast runner....normally turns into the "rabbit" for the pack to chase...he is good at this task. Today though, we have to say...he turned and defended himself. ONE GIANT STEP FOR CLOVER-KIND!!
All dogs performed wonderfully and many new friendships were made.

Your close-up photos really show off the different dogs and their personalities. And those of the owners too (like the lady kissing her dog)!
THANKS! I really do appreciate it. What a great time today, weather was just perfect.
The lady kissing is Helga our trainer....she just got a new dog...a WHEATEN TERRIER!! So Clover has a new friend!
