One of my favorite subjects...

Today Clover and I were working in my studio...well, I was working and he was trying to distract me by looking fore longingly out the window. He is good at getting me to go and do his bidding...(I swear he calls me "Thumb").

Since the light was perfect, I decided he would be my subject today... OK, so really he decided to play nice...and be my subject. Normally with Wheaten Terriers you get 3 chances for a good photo. First shot will be fine, second blurry as he is running at full speed at you...third...a black wet smudge in the middle of your lens.

After reading this in many books before adding Clover to our family I decided this photographers "helper" will be the exception. One thing this cat person has learned from my first dog....you teach them nothing...they teach you everything. So I have attempted since he was a wee one, to make standing for the camera a fun experience. A game. I must brag and say he normally performs well, but like the Naomi Campbell of the dog world...he can be moody.

I must say these shots were pretty successful. Many times, the look I am getting through the lens is the face of..."any second now I am going to leap at you and lick that lens so hurry it up!". I think you can see that face in a few of these shots. No licking today...but he did run over and grab the camera strap and tried to run off with the camera...thus ending the game.

Smart one this is...

Great shots! He's so photogenic! Seriously, you should totally start doing pet portraits...
