Rüdesheim...on the Rhine

This highly touristic town is located on the Rhine river, (little tid bit for you...the Rhine and the Neckar meet near us in Ladenburg...might have made the location of Ladenburg important in Roman times). We drove up to Bingen and took the car ferry, (Clover was amazed at the huge ferry as ours in Ladenburg is MUCH smaller) across to the little Medieval village.

It took a bit to find some parking, but the good point was it seemed most parking was free...I am guessing because most tourists arrive by bus or boat. It was a HOT Spring day, temperature was in the 80's after a nice walk through a beautiful tree lined park we had an amazing lunch in an Italian restaurant. I actually commented that the meal experience there was a 10 out of 10. GREAT price for a tourist town, fantastic food and beautiful restaurant.

After the pasta laden meal we took to the hills and walked through the slowly budding grape vines. The smell of Wisteria was thick in the air. With very little shelter from the sun for our hairy companion, it wasn't a long trek, before we were seeking the comfort of a splash in the towns many fountains.

We met some sweet children along the way ironically their favorite word was ....the international word..."WHY". "WHY are you making photos", "WHY are you here in our town"..."WHERE do you come from"...after my answer of AMERICA..."WHY". Very sweet.

So then it was back onto the Ferry and across to the other side of the Rhine.

Enjoy our sunny day photos

Awesome shots. Looks like such a great city! Clover didn't chase the swan? What a good boy! You've got 80 degrees - we've got snow. *sigh* Looks so nice.

Love the shots of the bunches of wisteria, Clover and his man, the duck faucet, the lamp post in the alleyway. Nice work today.
